August 1, 2018
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of Revised Statute 17:4035.1, which allows school choice for students enrolled in a school with a letter grade of D or F. Although Livaudais has a current letter grade of a F, I assure you changes have been made to ensure academic growth for each student. The following initiatives are presently being implemented to promote student learning:
- Transformation Network
Livaudais Middle School has been chosen to participate in the Transformation Network. With the additional funds and exceptional personnel being provided, we are committed to ensuring your child has prepared teachers, rigorous lessons and receives a high quality education that will prepare him/her for the future college and career they desire to pursue.
- Tier I Curriculum Implementation
The district has provided all schools with access to the very best resources available. As the principal, I will provide continued professional development for the staff, motivate, coach, and hold our teachers accountable to make sure that the curriculum is being implemented with fidelity and that quality teaching occurs in every class, every day.
- Dedicated Leadership Team
Our leadership team has over 50 years of experience in education. We have meet continuously over the summer and have a plan ready to meet the challenges we are sure to face. I will use the expertise of not only the administrators, but also of the faculty and staff of Livaudais and will rely on district support to assist us where and when needed.
An informational meeting regarding school choice will be held at the school on Wednesday, August 15 at 5pm. The meeting will be held in the school’s library. During this meeting more information about the 2018-2019 instructional plan at Livaudais will be discussed. You are not required to attend this meeting, nor are you required to transfer your child from Livaudais.
I am excited to work with you as we create a plan of action that will guarantee academic excellence for all students at Livaudais Middle School. Our students deserve nothing but our best.
Davon Hayes, Principal
